    DUNCAN McCLELLAN GLASS ART
All Vessels featured below have been produced by renowned glass artist, Duncan McClellan. Each piece is unique featuring Duncan's original approach to Modern Art glass which involves beautiful color and creative glass carvings of natural and mythical themes. Duncan's art is featured in Museums, corporate and private art collections internationally. Duncan's vessels consistently achieve acclaim and superb performances at Glass Art Auctions nationally where the auction performance has been described as "magical" and akin to "watching a close sporting event".

The art production process is a long difficult endeavor. Duncan's beautiful patterns and scenes are achieved through a complex glass layering technique where glass is added and then removed in layers to achieve beautiful and complex scenes and patterns of different colors and depth.  Duncan begins by blowing his massive and beautiful glass blanks from molten glass. This process sometimes requires 2 - 4 people to accomplish the complex color overlay technique which is both costly and difficult to do. Sometimes up to 4 pieces need to be blown before the perfectly shaped vessel is achieved with the right color layers suitable for cutting and carving. After the vessel is cooled and polished, this is just the beginning of the artistic stages, where the design needs to be conceived and then cold carved into the beautiful and emotional works that you see below.

Duncan's carved glass vessels are best presented when back lit by either natural light or staged lighting. When placed near a window, Duncan's pieces can be enjoyed throughout the day and will take on dramatic color changes as the sun shifts position. At night, the pieces come alive with back lighting.

All vessels shown below have been backlit and represent natural or backlight.

All Vessels are Currently Available for Immediate Shipment if indicated below. Private commissions are currently being accepted.

Though, some vessels may share similar themes and patterns, no 2 vessels are alike. Each piece is created by Duncan McClellan using the processes briefly described above. Certain patterns are classic Duncan McClellan patterns such as "Alchemy", "Communications" (bees), "Waves", "50th Cousin". Though some pieces may no longer be available, similar works can be commissioned using certain colors and themes.
