At the Market—
Vision Furniture International, the U.S. marketing arm of
a Romanian manufacturer looking to expand into America, is
here for the first time with a line of sophisticated
antique English reproductions.
Vision is showing about 50 pieces of dining, occasional
and home office furniture in Suites at Market Square,
space 1-406.
Brother and sister Anthony and Sonya Tokarchyk own the
company. The 110,000-square-foot Romanian source plant, in
production since 1991, has established distribution in
European and Asian markets, including the United Kingdom,
Germany and Japan.
"They just doubled capacity with new equipment and
production layouts," Anthony Tokarchyk said.
"It's a world-class plant that makes other lines as
well, and can currently ship over 100 containers a year on
the English Classics collection alone."
All pieces on display are available in mahogany or yew
wood and come in hand-rubbed French-polish finishes and
incorporate glazed glass in doors, fine leather work,
dovetail construction, and veneered and finished drawer
bottoms and sides. Custom finishes are available as well.
Sample retails include a double-pedestal dining table
at $3,081 and a square dining table at $7,690.
Other collections, including modern designs, are
planned.
"We'll assess the needs of the marketplace and add
some other groups or woods," Anthony Tokarchyk said.
Vision has 4,000 to 5,000 square feet of warehouse
space, with room to grow, in a 30,000-square-foot facility
in Philadelphia to support the line.
They offers blanket wrapping and dock-to-dock shipping
in its own trucks.
"Our plan is to stock our best sellers here for
immediate shipment," said Sonya Tokarchyk.
